Hear one woodland scene
The Forest layer is a 30-second excerpt of “Forêt” by Joseph SARDIN. It is a field recording, so it includes the surrounding scene rather than an individually generated set of bird calls.
The source notes below identify the recording and its author. Listen to the complete scene rather than expecting a collection of isolated, named bird calls.
Let the forest stay in the background
Start with the forest alone. Listen for which details you notice, then lower Volume if an event draws more attention than you want. A recorded scene changes over time even when the control stays at one level.
If you want a fuller background, add Stream in the mixer and keep Forest quieter than the water. That is a constructed soundscape using two independent recordings.
Forest compared with night ambience
Forest and Night are separate source recordings. Compare them if you want natural detail with a different character, rather than assuming that the same recording has simply been renamed for bedtime.
For a reading or study session, the Sounds for studying page includes a Forest stream choice. For a simple preview, the Nature collection lets you move between forest and water.

Recordings & sources
The player repeats the short audio files below for as long as your session runs. The loop length is the length of each file, not a limit on listening time. Events within a recording may repeat.

Start at a comfortable level. The volume percentages describe player settings; they do not measure the sound level at your ears. Playback with a locked screen or a background tab depends on your device and browser. Opening another page stops playback.
Common questions
Are these forest sounds recorded outdoors?
Yes. Forest uses an edited field recording from the credited source. It is not synthesized birdsong or a live forest stream.
Can I hear forest and water together?
Open the mixer and add Stream, or choose Forest stream on the study page. The two layers have independent levels and separate credits.
Why do the same sounds return?
The player repeats a 30-second excerpt. Natural events inside that excerpt can become recognizable during a long session. Changing layers or choosing another recording changes the texture, not the source duration.
