Choose by texture, not by a promise
A useful first choice is whether you want a continuous sound or a changing recording. Brown noise gives you one continuous texture. Rain varies within a weather recording. Ocean waves rise and fall more noticeably.
These choices are listening options, not treatments for insomnia. If silence feels better, there is no need to add a sound.
A short bedtime setup
Prepare your sound before settling down. Try one option, lower Volume to a comfortable background, then decide whether a second layer adds anything. Soft rain includes a small brown-noise layer; its sliders let you remove that layer by setting it to zero.
- Choose Soft rain, Waves or Brown noise.
- Adjust Volume in the room where you will listen.
- Set a sleep timer if you want an automatic end.
- Press Play. Use Pause whenever you want silence.
Understand the timer and the recording
The countdown begins with playback. Pausing does not move a running timer’s end time. Choose Off to cancel it, or a new duration to prepare another session.
The recordings are short prepared loops. A browser can pause audio when the screen locks or another app takes over. Try your own device before relying on background playback, and remember that opening another page stops this session.

Recordings & sources
The player repeats the short audio files below for as long as your session runs. The loop length is the length of each file, not a limit on listening time. Events within a recording may repeat.
| Sound | Loop | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Rain | 30 s Mono | Joseph SARDIN Field recording · CC0 |
| Ocean | 30 s Stereo | DenisChardonnet Field recording · CC0 |
| Brown noise | 10 s Mono | Generated by AmbientBlend Original synthetic noise |
Start at a comfortable level. The volume percentages describe player settings; they do not measure the sound level at your ears. Playback with a locked screen or a background tab depends on your device and browser. Opening another page stops playback.
Common questions
Which sound is best for sleep?
There is no universal winner here. Compare a continuous noise with rain or waves and choose the texture you prefer. The same sound can feel different with different speakers, volume and room noise.
Does this play an eight-hour recording?
No. The player repeats short prepared sound files. You can leave a session running or set a timer, but it is not an eight-hour source recording and uninterrupted playback depends on your device.
Can I save a bedtime mix?
Open the full mixer with this page’s current settings. It opens paused. There you can name and save the mix locally in your browser or create a share link; the running timer does not transfer.
