Begin with the task you are doing
Reading, writing and detailed checking do not have to use the same background. Try one short passage or task with a sound, then repeat a similar task with another. Notice whether the background stays in the background or becomes something you follow.
This is a practical preference check, not a test that can prove a sound improves productivity. Silence is a valid comparison too.
Three starting points
Rain and brown noise combines changing rain with a small continuous noise layer. Brown noise removes the natural events. Forest stream uses two natural recordings, with woodland detail over flowing water.
The options intentionally differ. You can set a layer to zero to remove it from the audible mix, or lower the overall Volume. Changing the choice while paused prepares it without starting playback.
Keep the setup simple
Choose one option before starting a work block and avoid changing it every minute. If an event or a voice pulls your attention away, lower that layer or try a less varied background.
A session timer can end the sound after 15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes. It is a sleep/session timer, not a repeating work-and-break schedule. Open the mixer to save a setup you want to use again.

Recordings & sources
The player repeats the short audio files below for as long as your session runs. The loop length is the length of each file, not a limit on listening time. Events within a recording may repeat.
| Sound | Loop | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Rain | 30 s Mono | Joseph SARDIN Field recording · CC0 |
| Forest | 30 s Stereo | Joseph SARDIN Field recording · CC0 |
| Stream | 30 s Stereo | Joseph SARDIN Field recording · CC0 |
| Brown noise | 10 s Mono | Generated by AmbientBlend Original synthetic noise |
Start at a comfortable level. The volume percentages describe player settings; they do not measure the sound level at your ears. Playback with a locked screen or a background tab depends on your device and browser. Opening another page stops playback.
Common questions
Which background sound is best for studying?
Choose by your own task and preference. Brown is continuous, rain changes, and forest stream adds more detail. This player offers comparisons rather than a guaranteed concentration benefit.
Are these study music tracks?
No music is added to these mixes. They use generated noise or natural recordings. For a background with people, the separate café page contains a real public café scene.
Will changing a preset start the sound?
If paused, the new choice stays paused until Play. If playing, the existing session changes to the new choice. You can pause first if you prefer to compare each from silence.
